Multiple Memberships don't allow

I would love it if the system were able to stop a customer from buying a membership when they already have a membership. Our most recent example - we put a freeze on a membership, the member decided to come back early so they went online and purchased a membership. That only produced two memberships and I had to figure out how to fix the error. If the system would stop them from purchasing a membership if they already have one, that would be ideal.
If it could do the same sort of thing with punch cards... looking to be sure the last punch card was used up before allowing them to purchase another punch card that would be great.

Applying this to punch cards would be a problem for us. Most of our people like to purchase a punch card before they ‘need’ it, so it doesn’t slow them down when they come in.

Renee Amicucci Not sure if I reply actually lets me respond to you or not, but I am going to try. How do you allow members to purchase a punch card before the other one is used up? We have found that as soon as the new one is purchased it stops taking visits from the old card and then we have to go in and manually update cards. We have decided that patrons can't buy another punch card until they have used up their old one. This is not ideal nor is manually adjusting punch cards all the time. My email is

We have limited membership purchases/renewals to in person only. We have some who renew early to avoid a lapse in coverage or take advantage of a sale. This could negatively impact our center if it's implemented across the board rather than an option to opt in to for each facility.

Yes I have the same issue. They are allowed to buy 2 of the same membership and then I have to issue a refund.
