Include "Opted Out" Emails for Notifications

We would like to be able to override the "opt-out" preferences when we are sending important activity information. Often our members assume the communication preferences are for marketing, but we frequently need to contact all participants regarding weather or program updates, and manually copying the opted-out emails/phone numbers is time-consuming.

Everybody, we are going to look at changing the verbiage to something along the lines of what Linda said, "Opt-in for registration information" as well as looking at possibly adding three options: "Opt-out completely", "Opt-in for everything" or "Opt-in for your current programs/registrations". We're very preliminary here but it's under review.

Allowing an override for important information would be nice and helpful.

Changing the way it is phrased or allowing an override for important information would really improve communication and save a lot of time.

Yes, this change would be very helpful for sending reminders to participants.

One of the standout features of Sportsman is the built-in email functionality — it's been a huge time-saver compared to our old system, where we had to pull reports and manually download email lists. However, we're running into a serious issue with the current "opt-out" option.
Participants who opt out are missing essential program information, which puts our communication efforts — and ultimately the success of our programs — at risk. Many don’t realize that opting out means they won’t receive any updates about schedules, cancellations, or other important details. Could the language around the opt-out option be adjusted to more clearly explain what participants will be missing if they choose to opt out? Clearer wording could go a long way in ensuring families stay informed and engaged.

If the opted-out/Opted-in option read "Opt-In for registration information" they would realize that it's not for advertising purposes but for their registered activity information. This is a problem for me as well and I've gone as far as pulling all those that requested to Opt out and asked them if I could have permission to change their settings so they can receive league info. Every one of them said they thought that was for advertising purposes and didn't want junk mail.

Yes! We send a reminder email for each activity, and it has become very time consuming to be able to send the reminder to the "opt-out" people too.
